PolicyStat Careers
Software Test Engineer
PolicyStat is a young company bringing a web-based policy management system to health care providers, large and small. Our clients share our belief that patients benefit when healthcare uses innovative solutions. We help streamline care, improve quality, and free up doctors and nurses from paperwork and meetings. We are committed to using effective new technologies to deliver rapid innovation, and to keep our product ahead of the competition.
In this role, you will own the entire quality assurance aspect of our product, from strategy to implementation. Your task is to steadily move us towards continuous deployment (a process where QA is sufficiently automated to allow near-instant deployment of changes to the live product). Your focus will be on improving product usability, leveraging automated testing tools and standardizing processes for ensuring quality. You'll be part of a small development team with a passion for Getting Things Done, using the best available tools and technology. We are committed to open source and love being able to contribute back to the projects that we use.
Day to day, you will be expected to review product changes for both usability and correctness, manage the test plan, write/design automated tests, to improve our process and to be part of our team.
Our current technology stack is focused around HTML/CSS/jQuery on the front end with Django/Python, MySQL and Apache on the back end. We use Amazon EC2 for our hosting, Fabric for our deployment, git for our source control, Hudson for our continuous integration, Redmine for our project management, and Selenium + nose unittests for our testing. We love our agile-ish processes (scrums, sprints and test-driven development are pretty awesome) and we're continuously searching for ways to improve.
An ideal candidate will have:
- A deep understanding of the trade-offs between different levels of testing (unit tests, automated user acceptance tests, manual tests etc)
- A working knowledge and passion for web usability
- A deep desire to automate processes and remove manual work
- Experience writing automated tests using tools like Selenium
- A background in python or similar programming language
- A desire to evangelize emerging technologies and to keep abreast of the leading edge
- A love of working on small teams to solve hard problems
- A desire to continuously improve development processes
This is a full-time, permanent position located at PolicyStat's headquarters in Indianapolis, IN.
